Kin Dza Dza
Arguably, it's the best sci fi comedy ever made and yet it's also the most famous film that nobody has ever heard of! Kin Dza Dza is a giant of science fiction and near the top of all good sci fi movie lists. If you like good, unusual cult sci fi -you need to see this film! How Steven Moffat got Neil Gaiman to make the Cybermen scary again
It’s Tonight! TV Spot and More for Neil Gaiman’s New DOCTOR WHO Episode
FINALLY! A NEW NEIL GAIMAN DOCTOR WHO EPISODE! Every Whovian has favorite episodes, and mine had been “Blink” before Neil Gaiman‘s exquisite “The Doctor’s Wife” came along in Season 6. Neil Gaiman is the author of American Gods, Coraline, The Graveyard Book, the Sandman comic series, and so much more (and by the way brings an unsurpassable magic to his audiobook narration), and his fans are as rabid as Whovians.
What we have tonight is a perfect storm of fandom, particularly considering that tonight is the penultimate episode of the season.
But first, we have a few reminders from last week’s episode, “The Crimson Horror”, just so we’re all on the same page for tonight. Then we have two posters for the new episode, the synopsis, and a TV spot. Now all we need is that TARDIS to get us to tonight faster.

And now…
Nightmare in Silver – Episode 12, premieres Saturday, May 11, 8:00pm ET/PT.
Hedgewick’s World of Wonders was once the greatest theme park in the galaxy, but it’s now the dilapidated home to a shabby showman, a chess playing dwarf and a dysfunctional army platoon. When the Doctor, Clara, Artie and Angie arrive, the last thing they expect is the re-emergence of one of the Doctor’s oldest foes. The Cybermen are back!
Episode credits: Written by Neil Gaiman (Coraline) and directed by Stephen Woolfenden.

SQUEE!
Doctor Who, starring Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman, airs Saturdays at 8/7c on BBC America.

ABC Makes Easy Choices Plus a Nice Surprise With Fall Pickup and Renewals
Just because it was expected doesn’t mean it isn’t great news. Yes, ABC has officially picked up Joss Whedon‘s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (and remember, if you’re doing a Twitter hashtag, take out all those pesky periods between the letters). Here’s the official cast shot and synopsis:
Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet). From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.
ABC also renewed its powerhouse Once Upon a Time for a third season, and of course picked up the new spinoff Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. So what’s the surprise? I am very happy to report that excellent alien comedy The Neighbors has also been picked up for a Season Two. YAY ABC! THANK YOU!

Game of Thrones Royalty Cast as the Prince in CINDERELLA
Earlier this month we told you that Lily James (Downton Abbey) had been cast as the lead in Disney’s live action film, Cinderella, which is being directed by Kenneth Branagh. She joined previously cast Cate Blanchett (The Hobbit) who will be playing the witch, and it looks like a prince has been cast to join them.
Richard Madden is no stranger to playing parts of royalty, with his current role being Robb Stark in Game of Thrones. Now, according to Variety, he has secured the prince character opposite Lily James‘ Cinderella.
We’ll keep you posted on Disney’s Cinderella directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Lily James, Richard Madden and Cate Blanchett.

Mostly Great News from The CW on Series Orders and Season Renewals
Yes, it’s that time of year, kids. Before the official “Upfronts” get started next week, the networks are making the dreaded “sorry, but” phone calls to showrunners and pilot productions who didn’t make the cut, followed by the “hey guess what?!!” calls to those shows and series that are amongst the chosen to be on the network’s future schedules.
We now have a happy surprise, two disappointments, and a lot of good news on the pilot scene from The CW camp. First, a quick reminder for those of you with short memories, and to stave off the panic: The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, and Supernatural were already picked up for fall, as we told you back in February.
The happy surprise: Nikita has been picked up for another season, as has Beauty and the Beast. The disappointment: The Selection and Gothica will not move on to series level.
The good news: three of the four new series pickups (or four of the five, if you include the we-already-knew-this pickup of The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals) are Our Kind of Shows. WELL DONE, THE CW. They have consistently supported solid sci-fi/fantasy series, and continually added more. Arguable the best news of all? Desmond and Jacob are returning to our screens. Yes, Henry Ian Cusick‘s and Mark Pellegrino‘s pilots are on the Approved list.
The new shows picked up by The CW are The 100, Oxygen, and The Tomorrow People. We’ve told you a bit about the shows already, but now we have the official synopses for all three, via Deadline:
The 100
From Warner Bros TV/Alloy Entertainment, the series is set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization. A spaceship housing the lone human survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing the planet. Based on the Alloy books by Kass Morgan. Eliza Taylor, Isaiah Washington, Henry Ian Cusick, Marie Avgeropoulos, Paige Turco, Kelly Hu, Christopher Larkin, and Thomas McDonell star. Jason Rothenberg wrote and exec produced with Leslie Morgenstein, Gina Girolamo, Bahrat Nalluri and Matt Miller. Nalluri directed the pilot and Miller is showrunner.
Oxygen
Passion and politics threaten the peace and an epic romance ignites between a human girl and an alien boy when he and eight others of his kind (The Orion 9) are integrated into a suburban high school 10 years after they and hundreds of others landed on Earth and were immediately consigned to an internment camp where they’ve been imprisoned ever since. From CBS TV Studios, Ole Prods, Isla de Babel and 360 Powwow. Meredith Averill wrote and exec produces with Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Scott Rosenberg, Richard Shepard, Bryan Furst, Sean Furst and Daniel Gutman. Gary Fleder directed the pilot. Aimee Teegarden stars with Matt Lanter, Malese Jow, Titus Makin Jr, Grey Damon, Natalie Hall, Chelsea Gilligan, Greg Finley, and Maggie Elizabeth Jones.
The Tomorrow People
From Warner Bros TV, Berlanti TV and FremantleMedia, Tomorrow People is the story of several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil. Based upon the original UK series created by Roger Price in the vein of X-Men and Heroes. Robbie Amell, Madeleine Mantock, Peyton List, Luke Mitchell, Mark Pellegrino, and Aaron Yoo star. Phil Klemmer is the writer and executive producer with Julie Plec, Greg Berlanti and Danny Cannon, who also directed the pilot. Melissa Kellner Berman is co-exec producer.
So many familiar names, both for actors and for writers and producers. Bring on the new series!
