Battlestar Galactica: Cultures: Gemenon

It’s cold outside? No kind of atmosphere? All alone, more-or-less? Want to fly far away from here for some fun (fun, fun) in the sun (sun, sun)? Then why not visit Gemenon. Gemenon is one of the inner planets of the 12 Colonies and because of its proximity to the sun, it’s hotter.

The Gemenese have used this to their advantage and turned their planet into a tropical getaway for the people of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. All sorts of fun can be had playing on Gemenon’s many beaches. Interplanetary sporting events are often held on the planet, because of its ideal climate. Despite its high population, Gemenon is not a very productive colony. They expend most of their resources on their bursting tourist industry. But being from a hot world has its downfalls, namely the need for lots of water for hydration.

The average Gemenese will consume more water then any other human in the colonies. Gemenese like to swim, and take long showers to cool off from the heat. Even when offworld, they like use a lot of water. This makes them the largest user of water per capita in the ragtag fleet. Woe to the poor sod who tries to keep a Gemenon from her water!

The planetary drink of Gemenon is coconut flavoured rum, which they drink a lot of. The Gemenese are more religious then the average colonial. Most will exclusively worship Apollo, the god of the Sun. They have many “odd” rituals involving sex and sun worship. Gemenon’s representative to the Quorum of the Twelve is Sarah Porter, a vindictive woman who holds a grudge against Roslin for not upping the Gemenon Ships’ water rations.
