Problems..OK, wierd.. the thread about the problems has just vanished... Basically, in any forum which is moderated by the moderators group when you try to reply to a thread it times out. It tends to create multiple entries in the posts tables but does not update the toppic and forum indexes so the new posts aren't visible unless you actually open the topic. If you try to create a new topic Since it only seems to affect the moderators group, or at least is worse in forums moderated by that group, I have temporarily removed those permissions so at least people can use the forums.

Re:Problems..
I tried to reply to the problems thread and it posted about 5 or 6 times after timing out once. Then I tried to delete my extra posts, got a "can't delete a post that's not yours" message, ignored it, went back to continue deleting, the page timed out and then the thread disappeared. That was about 3 hours or so ago. After that, I just hightailed it off the site before further catastrophe ensued.

Re:Problems..
Darned if I know what's causing it yet. Changing the mod settings has certaintly made things smoother for me but you still seem to be having more problems than I am at the moment, and it's only a temporary fix since it leaves some sections unmoderated (except for admins)
Have to get some sleep now so can't do any further work tonight, and getting this far took all day inbetween calls in work.

Re:Problems..
Yeah this problem is startign to get really weird. Below is what I sent Saddy a few minutes ago of my recent findings. BTW I have to use AOL through gatech's T1 to just acess the site:
I know the problem isn't on my machine, and it is likely not at the server either. I cannot access the site through my computers primary isp. But I can access it from my roommates computer and the computer at my office. I tried a different port in my apartment with no luck. Although I think my isp might assign my computer an ip.*** All three machines use the same isp. The problem seems to strike those with static ips more than floating ips. (And my suspicion is that it affects those who frequent the site regularly, but I have no evidence to support this) It cannot be just me, since Frey, and many others on the scifi.com and lexxfans bboards are also having problems.
***I'm not a computer expert, so what would cause certain machines to be unable to access a site, but allow others on the same network to access it? Do you have any ideas.
Maybe somebody here knows what this could mean?

Re:Problems..
They must be following different routes, since the problem is with one of the routers (at the planet.com for me). A lot depends on your ISP (people with Shaw have problems) -- we have direct, static connections.
So one easy way around it for me was to set up a remote proxy -- will bypass the problem areas on route.
I can get in from my computer using anonymizer.com. I'm using JAP right now (an anonymizer-type remote proxy service) which I downloaded and then set as my proxy.
Re:Problems..
Once again the mysterious disappearing thread topic has reared its ugly head
