SadCast - 28th April SadCAST ScriptSadCast 28th April 11.30pm GMT Script overview Target timings: Total length 25 mins 0. Opening theme (Mike/Sam) (15 secs) Assumptions: The team will not cough or laugh out loud as this will cause a real headache for the person editing the show (Sam) This first show will be a real fuckup but we'll have a laugh and learn a lot! Some real nice person will take notes and produce show notes for posting on the site for people interested in what we talk about. Sam and Mike (Sam will handle the video production and Mike is a panellist) will handle all post production Everyone will be contactable between now and the production date so that we can argue/finalise the script. There is not a cat-in-hells-chance of getting through all this in 20 minutes. Tips Speak quicklyt or you will may be edited out (watch a couple of other video podcasts (ie. dignation, Systm, CommandN etc.) to get an idea of how the pro's do it). Have a go! If you don't agree with something we REALLY want to hear your opinion – that’s why we want you to be on the show.

Re:SadCast - 28th April SadCAST Script
I'd be willing to do the movies section except:
1) I haven't been to the movies in about a month, V was the last movie I saw
2) Are there even any scifi films out there now?!
I suppose I can comment about the Clerks 2 trailer that was released this last week. Sure the movie itself isn't scifi, but it's Kevin Smith, so we already know there will be a ton of scifi (SW specifically) references in the film.
The TV directory isn't working for me, I don't have permission?
I'm really going to have to catch up on Dr. Who. I've seen only four episodes so far, as I'm basically on the US schedule now. I'll play catch up after finals.
You have (team) for the scifi news. Is this the team of four people in Preston? I will be very interested in this section in a couple weeks when the semester is over.
We (team, etc) can't laugh? It sounds odd to me, especially if we plan on cracking any jokes during the podcast.
Will there be pictures and or avatars for the non-Preston speaker when we are talking? I ask only because I know that seeing the same few talking heads for 20 minutes straight can get tedious for many viewers.

There is only a movies section if peeps want to do one (ie. if there are movies to review).
No there aren't any movies out there at the moment
You can comment about whatever you want! Anything will be ok provided you stick to the script.
You should now have access to the TV directory at:
http://www.sadgeezer.com/TV/index.htm
(prolly best to bookmark it)
The team (and I refer to team only between us - not the viewers - is me, Newkate, Kate (a model and musicion and sci fi fan, and Mike a graphics designer (designed the sadgeeser site, t-shirt, baseball cap etc.) and sci fi fan (and pal of course). The Preston team may change as suitability and availability allows.
Naaa, the laugh things was meant to be a reference to how loud a laugh can sount on a podcast. You can laugh, but if you sound like a belly laugh (like me) it will sound awful on a podcast. It's really tricky - a cough sounds REALLY bad on a podact and a laugh can sound very loud. I guess we are just going to have to be consious of how we sound.
Ther will be pics and avatars and graphics and loads of stuff! Maybe not all at once on the first episode, but it would be great to see pics of the contributors from the us and canada and Sud Africa, maybve you guys can send me a piccy of yoursleves.
I will need some info of you guys for the intro section of the podcast, I'll enter a separate post requesting the exact info that I need.
Yep,
Sounds great... I can sort out a picture or two, something South Africanish of me. Some sort of South Sci-fricanish thing.
I'd rather be prompted for a response, Im worried about screwing things up. Something like : Sadgeezer - "Hey Lexxrobotech saw the new blah blah blah, what was your take?"
Re:SadCast - 28th April SadCAST Script
Are we starting this thing at 11:30 PM GMT exact, or are we going to start the conference call 30 min earlier? It doesn't make too much of a difference to me, it just sort of tells me how much time I can procrastinate putting together the Alias episode review.
Speaking of which I would like to bring up (or at least be able to comment on the following items this week:
News:
BSG spinoff: Caprica (see the news item I posted earlier tonight)
News/Books:
Announced released of Hunters of Dune: Aug 22, 2007
pre-order on Amazon for $17.61
First two chapter so said novel released on the official site dunenovels.com. A new chapter released at the begining of every month until August.
I'll post cover art of book (US and UK version later)
TV:
Dr. Who. Will we have an oppritunity to respond to your review? If so I'd like to ask the question about the "new new doctor", see Dr. Who forum. Granted, Logan has already answered it, but it might be a good thing to breifly mention for new fans (such as others like myself).
Movies:
Clerks 2 Trailer availible (brief mention by someone should suffice)
Alias episode review, I'll need about a minute. I plan on splicing together all the scenes I want to talk about. I will likely have the entire product produced by tomorrow night; such that it will be pre-recorded and easily added to the podcast. At least that's the plan. I should be able to get it all done in about an hour tomorrow as I have most of it scripted already.
Comments?
Re:SadCast - 28th April SadCAST Script
Do you want that information now?
Re:SadCast - 28th April SadCAST Script
I have decided to do a piece on Shockwave Rider. Not a new book, but it is a cautionary tale of what we might be looking at if they do not pass a few of the net neutrality laws currently bandied about.
News snip - The (cable) groups say the Federal Communications Commission must be given power to prevent broadband providers from doing things like charging content providers extra for the privilege of faster delivery or other preferential treatment.
Large broadband operators, such as AT&T, Comcast and Verizon, have argued that companies should have the option to pay to deliver content and services to end users, and that net neutrality laws would prevent operators from recouping the significant investments of their networks. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Book review Snip - This book has always been popular with the techy-geeky crowd, but, since it was first published in the '70s, it missed out on the cyberpunk revolution of the '80s. It's too bad, because this is a compelling story of a future world tied together by a universal data network, a world that could be our tomorrow. It's a tense place filled with information overload and corporate domination, and nearly everything is known about everybody. Except Nickie Haflinger, a prodigy whose talents allow him to switch identities with a phone call. Nickie plans to change the world, if only he can keep from getting caught. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.
Tidbit snip of the Techie Type - this is beleived to be the first reference to a computer tapeworm. Brunner is said to have invented the idea as well as the word.
Cover This is the worse one I have ever seen, but apparently it is the most current. - http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0345324315/ref=sib_dp_pt/103-9939878-4832651#reader-link
Re:SadCast - 28th April SadCAST Script
Tony, I have emailed you the location of a wave file of my report and a doc file of the transcript.
If you decide to use them let me know. If so, I think I will also do the same for next week, but make it available for you and the others to listen to/or read BEFORE the recording.
