Next SadCAST is on Saturday 13th May at 11.30pm

Really sorry about the late notice of this but the bloody website has been down for four days!!

UK crew have a concert and we have a wedding on Friday so we've had to shift the date to Saturday - hope you are ok with that!

We also need confirmations from you all, preferably by editing the script on the WIKI (see link at bottom of main menu block to the left).

Excellent!

I hope Michaelle can make it - also Holi, Logan and where is Rory!

It's probable that Holli can't make it (not seen her in a couple of weeks) and Logan is away this weekend and Michaelle is currently in Internet hell!

It may just be you and Rory this week!?

Ah, I see. Yes, I should have remembered. Been in a flap thios week coz of the fuckup with the server and service provider.

They decided on Friday that they would move sadgeezer.com onto another server and upgrade the version of php.

I only found out about it yesterday which is when I told them that theyu are not legally obliged to do that and that my site wouldn't work with php 5!

Bloody morons!

I'd love to move, but I can't do that without setting everything up again (emails, ftp accounts admin accounts etc.)

I guess I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and consider a complete site revamp - we're due one!

We should consider all sorts of stuff, real out-of-the-box thinking. What is it that the site really needs to achieve. We get hits, we develop a community - but what do we actually do? Lots of reviews which are a little hard to find! We have lots of clutter and need to think about a more professional approach.

Any ideas?

This is my script for my Sci Fi news. I will deviate very little from what is written. I've test read it and the time listed are about how long each section will take

Part 1: (2 min 10 sec)
I'll start off this week with some news coming from over in you guys' area of the world. The Jetix Europe network announced this week that they intend to produce the second Doctor Who spinoff, K9. Jetix is a children's network so that should be a big hint about the maturity level of the new spinoff. But anyway, they've order 26, of what I presume to be half hour episodes. The series is a joint effort with Who designer Paul Tams and the K9 co creator Bob Baker, who himself cowrote Wallace and Gromit.

The Beeb won't have anything to do with this new series as they are too busy working on their own Who spinoff "Torchwood". Torchwood, is a hunourous British/Welsh version of the X-Files, stars John Barrowman (Capt Jack) and Eve Myles. The foundation for this spinoff was set a few weeks ago when the Doctor vistited Victorian Scotland, in the second episode "Tooth and Claw", which prompted her majesty to create a UFO investigation programme. The series will be mostly based in Cardiff and won't crossover with Doctor Who. A quick FYI, Torchwood is an amalgram for Doctor Who.

In a related story, former Doctor Chrsitpher Eccleston will be starring in the new Sky One Prisoner remake. The new 6 part mini-series will follow a former spy trying to escape a wierd town. Coincidentally this is the same amount of episodes the Patrick McGoohan only wanted to do for the first Prisoner series. Unlike the original though the new series will not be filmed in Portmerion, Wales.

In movie news Brendon Fraiser will star in the Journey to the Center of the Earth remake: Journey 3-D. And no, unlike other 3D movie flops, Robert Rodreguez won't be helming this film. Instead it will be directed by first time movie director Eric Brerig. I must say though that I'm dissapointed with Brendon Fraiser. I really thought that after Crash he would start doing serious films. I sort of thought he would be the next Tom Hanks. y'know a lot of stupid films, then one serious role and he takes off. I guess that just isn't what he wants.

Speaking of movies, Blizzard has sold the rights to a World of Warcraft movie to WB's Legendary Pictures. They intedn to start work on the movie right away. It will be a live action film and Blizzard will have some creative control over the picture.

Another video game film Halo produced by Universal-Fox is slated to be released next summer, but that seems unlikely as a director hasn't been found for that film yet.

Part 2 (90 sec)
Get you Barf bags ready, Sci Fi Channel announced their new season plans a couple weeks ago. We've got Blink, as series about freezing time for an instant when a life shattering decision is be made and see the results. Persons Unknown feature a group of mind wiped people who awaken in a deserted town and can't escape. I saw this one already, it's was a Canadian movie called Cube. The Bishop follows a Slacker with a special gift who must uncover his secret past. *cough* John Doe.

I'll spare you the description for the unscripted Ground Control and Destination Truth. But an untitled late weeknight show has promise. They want it to be a sketch comedy show satirizing the PBS science news magazine show. I'm intereste to see how this will turn out. It's sounds promising, but I don't know if they'll have enough material to do everynight, and more to the point if the shit production values that Sci Fi has normally used in some of thier recent shows (Mad Mad House, Tripping the Rift, Tremors, Scare Tactics and Master Blasters) will doom this one before it starts.

The BSG comic book has started its run this month. 135k copies of issue 0 are now in stores for a quater. Monthly issues start in July.

Sci Fi Channel will begin the new seasons of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis on Friday July 14 at their regular times. Sister network USA has The 4400 begin their new season on June 11 at 9:00 with a 2 hour premier. They will return to their regular timeslot on sundays on June 18th at 9 PM. follwed by the season premier of the Dead Zone at 10 PM.

These are my lost and Alias review scripts. Again, little deviation from what is written here. I do intend to edit this for grammar a little. It's getting early for me! Both reviews including the 2 30 clips should take about 2 min 45 sec.

First up is Alias episode "30 Seconds". I'm not even sure where to start on this one, other than it's a good thing the series is coming to an end. Let's have a look at this clip:

Show the clip.

30 Seconds was so formulaic for an Alias episode. There's a mission that goes wrong becuse Sloane betrayed them. The enemy appears to have the upper hand, but they pull it off at the end. Uggh, come on guys you only have a few more episodes to go, try to be a little original! What's worse is they pulled the doppleganger nonse again. The doubles are what first made this series first jump the shark in season 2! This time with Anna doubling as Sydney. Anna nearly kills Sidney off in Mongolia, and meets up with Vaughn. They track the technology to some hideout of Vaugh's father in Germany and that's where things get formuliac some more. In the end Sydney saves Vaughn bying killing Anna at the last second. The good guys now have all the evidence they need to end Prophet 5, and this trainwreck of series.

Lost's "Two for the Road" on the other hand did not suck. It got me interested again in the series: Look at this editted clip:

show the lost clip.

With the finding of this new Dharma base, it looks like a we're poised to learn more about the island. But this series has been such a tease in the past, so who knows. Personally it looks like its proving my theory that this entire island was a psychology expirement gone wrong. With the bearded man becoming a cult figure amongst the particpants and preaching some extremist Darwinism. But overall it was a good epsiode and really set things up for the end of the season. However I am dissapointed to see the LIbby sub-arc die. I was pretty curious about that one. AS for Micheal, I think he shot up Anna Lucia and Libby last week just to give the castaways a reason to go after the others. Well see next week.
