Tripping the Rift: Cultures: Dark Clowns

Bobo the Git!The only two Dark Clowns that we’ve seen so far are Darph Bobo and the Dark Clown Emperor. Both characters are total, total gits! – and scary too.

If you were to meet one in a pub he/it would have started a fight, either with foul language or simply by decapitating the barman for not selling Guinness Extra Cold. In fact other patrons of the bar would also be lying with their head by their ankles because they would have been stupid enough to debate weather Guinness should be available Extra Cold and not warm as it was originally intended. However, make no mistake…. Darph Bobo is DEFINITELY a Guinness drinker!

Nit-picking with BoboIt seems that there is an Imperial Order of Dark Clowns and it is VERY powerful. They seem to command an impressively large garrison of clone Imperial Troopers, but they could not be considered good employers. Troopers not so much are paid for their service as allowed to live!

In the first episode we saw Darph Bobo attempt to kill Chode, the Captain of the Free Enterprise. We assumed from the dialogue that Darph and Bobo were personal enemies. In the second episode teaser however, it seems that Chode’s destiny is somehow linked to that of the Dark Clown Order. The Emperor himself (a foul-mouthed New Yorker with a fat face), is particularly keen for Bobo to capture (or possibly kill) Chode.

It’s clear that the Dark Clowns are the baddies of the series and as baddies go, they’re pretty good!
